Your data deserves the same calm as our playlists.
Radio Good News collects the bare minimum, says so plainly, and leaves you in control. This page describes the data processed when you visit this site, listen to the radio, write to us through the contact form or take part in the community wall.
Last updated: 6 August 2026.
π§ 1. Data controller
The data controller is Stephan Boyer, founder and independent operator of Radio Good News, publisher of the site thisisradiogoodnews.com and of the associated mobile applications.
Any request concerning your data can be sent through the contact form, using βPersonal dataβ as the subject.
π¦ 2. Data we collect
Contact form: name, email address, subject and message content, plus the date it was sent. These are the fields you fill in voluntarily.
Community participation: the message you publish, a nickname or first name if you provide one, the city and mood you choose, the approximate coordinates of the point you place on the map, and votes. This content is intended to be public on the site.
Technical data: IP address, browser type, pages viewed and timestamps, logged automatically by the host for security and reliability purposes.
Local preferences: your cookie choice and, where applicable, a record of your votes are stored in your browser's local storage, on your own device.
We collect no sensitive data and do not ask you to create an account in order to listen to the radio.
π― 3. Purposes and legal bases
- Replying to your messages β legal basis: your consent and the legitimate interest in handling incoming requests (Art. 6(1)(a) and 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Publishing community contributions β legal basis: your consent, given by voluntarily submitting the content.
- Ensuring security, availability and protection against abuse β legal basis: legitimate interest.
- Audience measurement and advertising β legal basis: your consent, collected through the cookie banner and revocable at any time.
πͺ 4. Cookies and trackers
A cookie is a small file placed on your device when you visit a site. Radio Good News sorts trackers into four categories:
- Strictly necessary β site operation, security and remembering your cookie choice. They do not require your consent and cannot be switched off.
- Audience measurement β aggregated traffic statistics showing which pages are viewed. Placed only after you agree.
- Advertising β advertising cookies, in particular those of Google AdSense, including ad personalisation and frequency capping. Placed only after you agree.
- Convenience and embedded content β interactive map and external players. Without them, some content will not display.
No consent-based tracker is activated before you make a choice. You can accept, reject or set each category separately, and change your decision at any time.
π£ 5. Advertising
The site may display ads served by Google AdSense. When you consent, Google and its partners may place cookies or read identifiers in order to serve, measure and, where applicable, personalise ads.
If you refuse, any ads displayed are not personalised on the basis of those trackers. You can also adjust your settings directly with Google at myadcenter.google.com and read Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
𧩠6. Third-party services used
- Netlify β site hosting, processing of contact form submissions and the community contributions database.
- RadioKing β live audio streaming. Listening opens an external player, governed by RadioKing's own privacy policy.
- OpenStreetMap and the Leaflet mapping library β display of the interactive map; loading map tiles sends your IP address to those services.
- Google AdSense β ad display, subject to your consent.
- App Store (Apple) and Google Play β application downloads; these platforms apply their own rules.
These providers act only for the purposes described here. No data is sold.
π 7. Transfers outside the European Union
Some providers (notably Netlify and Google) are established in the United States or operate servers outside the European Union. Such transfers are covered by the safeguards provided for in the GDPR, in particular the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and, where applicable, the EU β US Data Privacy Framework.
β³ 8. Retention periods
- Contact form messages: kept for as long as needed to handle the request, then archived for a maximum of three years after the last exchange.
- Community contributions: kept for as long as they are published; deleted on request.
- Technical logs: kept for a maximum of twelve months.
- Cookie consent: kept for a maximum of six months, after which you are asked again.
- Advertising and measurement cookies: lifetime specific to each tracker, capped at thirteen months.
βοΈ 9. Your rights
Under the GDPR and the French Data Protection Act, you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability of your data, as well as the right to withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing already carried out.
To exercise these rights, write to us through the contact form. You will receive a reply within one month at the latest. If that reply does not satisfy you, you may lodge a complaint with the French supervisory authority, the CNIL, or with the supervisory authority of your country of residence.
π‘οΈ 10. Security
The site is served exclusively over HTTPS. Access to received messages and to the moderation interface is protected by authentication. Data is hosted on managed infrastructure, with backups handled by the host.
As no system is infallible, we ask you not to send sensitive information through the contact form or the community wall.
π§ 11. Minors
Radio Good News is aimed at an adult audience and is not intended to collect data about people under the age of 15. Should such data be submitted, it would be deleted as soon as it is reported.
π 12. Changes to this policy
This policy may change if the site adopts different tools or features. The date of the last update appears at the top of the page. In the event of a substantial change affecting your choices, you will be asked for your cookie consent again.
In short. No selling of data, no hidden profiling, no mandatory account in order to listen. What you send us is used to reply to you, or to be published if that was your intention, and nothing else. For any question about this document, write to us through the contact form.
